So, I recently ran into a frustrating issue. Android Auto refused to launch in my car when I plugged in my phone via USB. At first, I assumed it was just a bad cable or port, but after some digging, I discovered the real problem: the 2020 model doesn’t even come with Android Auto.
Huge disappointment. The infotainment system is basically just a useless screen no better than what I have in my Mitsubishi Mirage. There had to be a way to get Android Auto working. I’ve rented Corollas that had it.
A little research led me to a frustrating realization: Toyota added Android Auto exactly one year later. So, anything 2021 and newer has it… but of course, I missed the cutoff by a single year. Just my luck.
Determined to fix this, I tracked down a 2021 radio from a junkyard in Orlando. It should arrive in a few days, and I’ll test it out as soon as it gets here. Fingers crossed that this upgrade works!
